Having the correct paediatric first aid provision is not only a legal requirement for most childcare providers, but a vital part of keeping children safe.
The Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid is specifically designed for those working, or planning to work, in childcare settings. It meets Ofsted’s first aid and EYFS Framework requirements for early years practitioners, nursery staff, and childminders.
Learners will gain a clear understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a paediatric first aider and develop the confidence and skills to provide safe, effective treatment in a wide range of paediatric first aid situations.

PAEDIATRIC FIRST AID COURSE CONTENT
This certified first aid 12 hour course equips learners with essential knowledge and practical, hands-on skills, including:
- The roles and responsibilities of a paediatric first aider
- Assessing an emergency situation
- Dealing with an unresponsive infant or child
- Recovery position
- CPR
- Choking
- Head and spinal injuries
- Fractures, dislocations and sprains
- Anaphylaxis and allergic reactions

- Diabetic emergencies

This course fully meets the criteria set by the Department for Education and Skills (DfES). Upon successful completion, learners will receive a certificate valid for three years.

BLENDED FIRST AID COURSE – 12 Hours (Fully Compliant with EYFS Statutory Framework)
Our Blended Paediatric First Aid course provides a flexible and efficient way to complete your mandatory paediatric first aid training. It is ideal for early years practitioners, teachers, and childcare professionals working in Ofsted-registered settings.
This 12-hour course fully meets the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) statutory framework and Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidelines, ensuring learners gain the confidence, knowledge, and practical skills needed to respond safely and effectively to infant and child emergencies.
How does the Blended Paediatric Course work?
- Part 1 – Online Learning (Self-Paced):
The online modules include videos, written content, and short knowledge checks to support understanding and confidence. Learners can pause, rewind, and revisit any section as needed, allowing them to learn at a pace that suits their individual needs.
This part of the course must be completed before attending the face-to-face practical session, ensuring learners arrive fully prepared to focus on hands-on skills and real-life scenarios.
- Part 2 – Practical Classroom Session (1 Day):
The second part of the course is delivered in a face-to-face classroom setting.
During this practical session, learners will practise essential life-saving skills, including infant and child CPR, choking procedures, recovery position, wound care, and the management of common paediatric injuries and illnesses.
Training is scenario-based and highly interactive, allowing learners to build confidence through hands-on practice, discussion, and guided support. Learners will also complete practical assessments to demonstrate their competence in key first aid skills.
